FireSight docs

The customer portal

The FireSight customer portal, at portal.firesightsystems.com, is where you register your FireSight systems, get and renew licenses, download FireSight, and read this documentation (also at support.firesightsystems.com).

Who What they can do
Visitors Read the docs. Register interest in a download and get a one-time link by email. Create an account.
Customer administrator Register systems, ask for licenses, renewals, more firewalls and re-hosts, download license files, and invite colleagues.
Customer user The same, except inviting colleagues.
Reseller administrator and user Manage their customers' systems and licenses. See For resellers.

Create an account

  1. Click Create account (top right) or Create an account on the home page.
  2. Fill in Your name, Work email, Company, Country and a Password (at least 12 characters). Optionally tick Send me FireSight product news (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  3. Click Create account. The page says Check your email.
  4. Open the link in the email Confirm your FireSight portal account. It works once, for 48 hours. The page says Email confirmed.
  5. FireSight checks and approves the account, usually within one working day, and links it to your company (or your reseller). You get an email, Your FireSight portal account is ready, when you can sign in.

If you were invited, use the link in your invitation instead.

Note

If the address already has an account, no second account is made: the owner gets an email instead, saying someone tried to sign up with it.

Password rules

  • At least 12 characters.
  • Not your email address.
  • Not too simple: at least five different characters.

  1. Click Sign in.
  2. Enter your Email and Password, and click Sign in.

You land on your organisation's page: Systems & licenses for customers, Customers for resellers.

Message Meaning
That email and password don't match. Try again, or reset your password.
Confirm your email address first: we sent you a link. Open the confirmation link from your sign-up email.
Your account is waiting for approval by FireSight. FireSight hasn't approved it yet. You'll get an email.
This account is disabled. Contact FireSight support. Contact support.
Your organisation's portal access is switched off. Contact support.
Too many attempts. Wait 15 minutes and try again. Too many failed sign-ins from your address or for your account.

Sign out is at the top right.

Forgot your password

  1. On Sign in, click Forgot your password?.
  2. Enter your Email and click Email me a reset link. The page always says Check your email, whether or not the address has an account.
  3. Open the link. It works once, for 2 hours, and requesting a new one makes the old ones stop working.
  4. Enter a New password and click Change password. Every portal session you had is signed out.

Invite colleagues

Customer administrators invite colleagues under Colleagues:

  1. Enter the Email.
  2. Choose the Role:
    • User: systems and licenses;
    • Administrator: also invites people.
  3. Click Send invitation.

The colleague gets an email with a link that works once, for 72 hours. They open it, enter Your name and a New password, and click Create my account; no separate approval is needed. Sending a new invitation to the same address replaces the old link.

An address that already has a portal account, or a pending invitation from another organisation, can't be invited.

The Colleagues table lists everyone at your organisation with their Role and Status:

Status Meaning
active Can sign in.
invited Hasn't accepted the invitation yet.
unverified Signed up but hasn't confirmed the email.
pending Waiting for FireSight's approval.
disabled Switched off. Contact support.

Privacy

The Privacy link at the bottom of every page explains what the portal keeps: details you give on sign-up and download forms, your account and a record of sign-ins and actions, and for licensed systems the serial number, version, host name, number of firewalls and a hardware fingerprint made of one-way hashes. No firewall configuration or traffic is ever sent to FireSight.
